Room Transfer Information

Room transfer requests can only be submitted between September 1 and October 24. Requests will be reviewed in the order in which they were received and according to the schedule below.

  • Requests submitted between September 1-26 will be reviewed on September 27.
  • Requests submitted between October 1-24 will be reviewed on October 25.

Please keep in mind that requests are not automatically granted and are dependent on availability at the time of review.

Transfer Request Process:

  • To submit a transfer request, you will need to fill out the transfer request form which will be available in the Forms area of the portal beginning September 1.
  • When you have submitted the request, you will receive an email confirmation that your request has been submitted. You can only submit one request per month (September and October only). Therefore, if you submit a request in September and it is denied, you can resubmit in October. But if you wait to submit the first request in October, you can only submit once.
  • If you need to make changes to your request, you must email housing@utdallas.edu. Please note that any changes made, will change your date of submission to reflect your most recent request/submission. Only your most recent submission will be reviewed.
  • On the last Wednesday of the month (September 27 and October 25), University Housing will review all submitted requests for that submission period (refer to the schedule above).
  • Residents will receive an approval or denial of their transfer request via UTD email. If the request is approved, you will receive an offer for the floor plan you were approved to transfer to. If you are denied, you will receive an email detailing why your request was denied. Requests will be approved based on availability for a fall transfer. If your request is approved, you will be required to move in the fall semester by a designated moving deadline and housing charges will be updated accordingly. There is no spring transfer process due to returning resident processes being underway.
  • If your request was approved, you must accept the transfer offer in the MyHousing portal on the transfer request page. If you accept the transfer offer, you will be emailed a moving timeline, the housing charges will be updated to reflect any changes in floor plan for the fall term, and the $200 transfer fee will be added to your University account.
